Thanks for praying for us. Attached is a picture of Rosemerline.
Juanita and I started the adoption process to adopt Rosemerline in Feb 2009. We started this after we came to a roadblock in adopting a boy, Charles, from Haiti. Because of the orphanage he was in, the constraints of the government of Haiti, and the resources that would be needed, we had to delay the adoption of Charles. We are still intending to adopt Charles also, but we want to finalize Rosermerline...but because of the current situation there may be a chance Charles can leave Haiti also. Please pray for doors to be opened here and ministry cooperation.
Back to Rosemerline. Our adoption paperwork was completed and sent to Haiti in Nov. 2009. We are 'matched' with Rosemerline since March 2009. Last week 16 of the 22 kids in Maranatha Orphanage were granted travel documents to leave Haiti and arrived last Friday night. Three more left over the weekend, there are still 3 left, Rosemerline is one of them. She was dancing around and excited about coming home, but then was not able to do so. She is safe, has food, water, care givers and stable environment, many Haitians do not have this now.
The staff at the orphanage is at the US Embassy everyday to check on the status of Humanitarian Parole being granted to the rest of the kids. Last week we have learned the Prime Minister has to sign off on every adoption. I think there are still 2 or 3 hundred cases left, and all adoptions stopped for a day or two.
Please pray for Rosemerline's continued safety and her needs met. Pray for Juanita and I, it has been an emotional two weeks, setting up her room, moving our oldest daughter to a new room and then Rosemerline not joining us yet. We know God will allow Rosemerline to come. Had the earthquake not happened, I believe the adoption would have completed in 6 to 12 more months.
Please pray for for the staff and volunteers at Heartline Ministries. This is the ministry that runs the orphanage, also a women's center. They have now converted to a hospital.
Please pray for the folks that continue to wait at the Embassy, it is not a easy thing to do. Can be very discouraging.
Pray for the nannies at the orphanage. They cared for the kids even though their own homes were destroyed. Then one day all but three kids leave.
